Image

once again an opportunity with verena to share our leavy shots

I am a bit slow this week.

Want to share with you the leaves that grew in my kitchen window. This was my temporary kitchen while we were living in Belgium

Although I live in the southern hemisphere, and we are on our way to a new summer season, it is the rich colours of autumn that make me reach for my camera.

Festival of Leaves: Week 3

It is an absolute joy for me to go through my picture archive and select appropriate pictures for this weekly Festival of leaves

About this time last year I visited my son that lives in London.  These were taken the one morning when he had me walking from the one side of London to the other side of the city ( at least that was how it felt!!)

Look who watched me while I took some pictures of its home

While the northern hemishere is readying itself for the coming autumn and winter, here where we live sping has arrived with young saplings and shiny tender leaves.

ornamental vine

We were away for a long time and this vine almost did not survive.  When I got home, I gave it intensive care and it did the trick

03

young hydrangia leaves

Hydrangias flower in mid summer and in South Africa over Christmas time they are normally at their peak. So locally they are known as Christmas roses.

daily press

The daily post selected the topic inside for this week.   I was wondering what would be fitting for this topic, but when I saw these pictures, I knew they would fit in very nicely.

Officially known as the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II, the enormous white marble monument that dominates Piazza Venezia was built as a tribute to the first king of a united Italy, Victor Emmanuel II.

I only realised the size of this statue when I saw a photo that was taken just after the completion of it.
