The daily post selected the topic inside for this week.   I was wondering what would be fitting for this topic, but when I saw these pictures, I knew they would fit in very nicely.

Officially known as the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II, the enormous white marble monument that dominates Piazza Venezia was built as a tribute to the first king of a united Italy, Victor Emmanuel II.

I only realised the size of this statue when I saw a photo that was taken just after the completion of it.

After casting the equestrian group, Giovanni Bastianelli,  the foundry-owner,  made a toast with his workers inside the belly of the horse

That was one of the tips my son also gave my quite some time ago. I have done it a hand full of times and then forgot about it until this weeks challenge

The next shot was taken after I looked up the tree and remember the words of a friend who once mentioned that the true caracter of a tree is only visible once it had shed its leaves
